Mellanox Channel I/O Virtualization (CIOV)
CIOV does for hardware-based I/O virtualization what Intel-VT™ and AMD-V™ based virtualization technologies do for CPU and memory virtualization. And it does so by enabling hardware based I/O virtualization in the existing base of servers, and with programmability to work complementarily to future I/OMMU-enabled chipsets and PCI-based I/O virtualization enhancements.

Enabling Service Oriented I/O Infrastructures
A critical requirement of service oriented architecture (SOA) deployments is full abstraction of underlying physical infrastructure of compute, network and storage elements in the data center. Provisioning of network and storage I/O resources must be independent and not require redeployment of physical infrastructures. The key to delivering such capabilities is the ability to deliver multiple I/O services over the same I/O fabric using service end points that can be provisioned easily. Mellanox CIOV fulfils the I/O infrastructure needs in data center SOA deployments.
