    First InfiniBand developer’s conference held in San Francisco. The name “InfiniBand” is introduced and the InfiniBand Trade Association is formed. The sponsor members are Adaptec, 3COM, Cisco, Fujitsu-Siemens, Hitachi, Lucent, NEC, and Nortel.

    NGIO and Future I/O standards announce merger. New standard is tentatively called “ServerIO” and is to combine the best of class features from both technologies. The seven steering committee members are Compaq, Dell, Hewlett Packard, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, and Sun Microsystems.
