Mellanox BridgeX BX5020 Wins ‘Best of Interop’ Award in Data Center Server and Storage Category
Award-Winning BridgeX® BX5020 Gateway Enables 40Gb/s Converged Data Center Fabrics with Seamless Connectivity to Ethernet LANs, iSCSI and Fibre Channel SANs
INTEROP, Las Vegas, NV – April 29, 2010 – Mellanox® Technologies, Ltd. (NASDAQ: MLNX; TASE: MLNX), a leading supplier of high-performance, end-to-end connectivity solutions for data center servers and storage systems, today announced that its BridgeX BX5020 gateway system solution was awarded ‘Best of Interop’ in the data center server and storage category, recognizing its unrivaled performance, cost saving and efficiency benefits of converging the data center over 40Gb/s InfiniBand – the industry’s highest bandwidth, lowest-latency interconnect.
The finalists for the 2010 Best of Interop Awards were hand-selected by award-winning editors and analysts from InformationWeek Analytics. There were over 100 candidates for Best of Interop consideration in nine different categories. The judges selected the products they believe have the greatest potential to impact and advance business technology efficiencies, helping move the industry forward.
“The Best of Interop Awards highlight the outstanding IT vendors of the industry and this year’s Best of Interop is particularly exciting because of the strong competition we saw in each category,” said Art Wittmann, Managing Director of InformationWeek Analytics. “The selected winners represent innovation in the marketplace and deserve recognition for helping build the energy and growth of today’s IT Industry.”
“Our end-to-end data center networking products continue to receive industry-wide validation and recognition, and winning the ‘Best of Interop’ Award in the Data Center and Storage category further highlights Mellanox’s innovation and leadership,” said Eyal Waldman, chairman, president and CEO of Mellanox Technologies. “Mellanox’s BridgeX BX5020 gateway system delivers the highest port density at the lowest cost, power and smallest form factor compared to other converged I/O gateway solutions available today, providing end-users with unmatched application performance and networking efficiency.”
The BridgeX BX5020 is the industry’s highest performing 40Gb/s InfiniBand to Ethernet and/or Fibre Channel gateway system in a 1 RU (rack unit) form factor. In conjunction with ConnectX®-2 adapters, the BridgeX BX5020 enables Enterprise Data Centers, Cloud and High Performance Computing server clusters to share the same fabric for computing, networking and storage traffic. Server applications that rely on familiar Ethernet and Fibre Channel interfaces can operate transparently and access existing LAN and SAN infrastructures. Performance, complexity and economies of scale are improved dramatically while standard Ethernet and Fibre Channel management practices and investments are preserved.
The BridgeX BX5020 system with support for four 40Gb/s InfiniBand server switch facing ports and 10GbE LAN and iSCSI SAN facing ports is shipping this quarter and will be followed by software support for up to 16 1/2/4/8Gb/s Fibre Channel SAN facing ports. Pricing is available upon request. Please contact your local Mellanox representative for additional information.
