Creating a Customized Firmware Binary (OEMs Only)
To create a customized firmware binary, perform the following steps:
- Download the correct tarball for your product from the MLX Firmware Download Table below (save with .tgz extension).
- Decompress the zipped tarball using: tar -xzvf <tarball>
- Customize the firmware: the downloaded package includes a .ini file which can be used to change some IB device parameters. For details on the .ini file see the appropriate Firmware Release Notes in the MLX Firmware Download Table below.
- Download the Mellanox Firmware Tools (MFT) package (save with .tgz extension), its Release Notes, and its User's Manual.
- Create a new firmware image using the new .ini file. For this you need to use the 'mlxburn' tool which is part of the MFT package. See the MFT User's Manual.
- Burn the new image using the 'flint' tool (adapter card) or 'spark' tool (switch) of MFT. See the MFT User's Manual.
Notes
- New adapter card products may be introduced by Mellanox Technologies after the release of a firmware package/version. Their INI files are to be found in the table below (marked as New).
