Latest HP BladeSystem c-Class is first to deliver 20Gb/s DDR InfiniBand performance

INTERNATIONAL SUPERCOMPUTER CONFERENCE 2006, DRESDEN, GERMANY – June 26, 2006 – Mellanox™ Technologies Ltd, the leader in business and technical computing interconnects, today announced that the company’s 20Gb/s DDR (Double Data Rate) InfiniBand HCAs (Host Channel Adapter) and switch blades provide the optimal performance interconnect for the new HP BladeSystem c-Class systems.

As a member of the HP BladeSystem Solution Builder program, Mellanox has collaborated with HP to produce this advanced solution and deliver unprecedented computing performance and efficiency in demanding data center and technical computing environments.

The HP BladeSystem c-Class can lower IT costs and increase responsiveness to business change for customers expanding their data centers with enhanced management and virtualization capabilities inherent in InfiniBand networks.

The Solution
A Mellanox-based 20Gb/s DDR adapter resides on each server blade and provides performance connectivity to the processor through a PCI Express interface. InfiniBand signals are carried over a midplane of 5 Terabit per second aggregate bandwidth to a module that plugs into a high-speed switch bay. The system supports multiple DDR adapters on each server blade and the capability to plug in multiple switch modules for redundancy as well as higher aggregated bandwidth--useful for mission-critical applications and the most-demanding HPC deployments. The switch module also supports 20Gb/s DDR InfiniBand external connections which are used to build large scale clusters, or to connect to other native InfiniBand infrastructure equipment.

Mellanox’s DDR InfiniBand family of products delivers breakthrough I/O connectivity with 20Gb/s (4X InfiniBand) and 60Gb/s (12X InfiniBand) connections over a single cable. In production today, Mellanox’s InfiniBand products are deployed in rack-mounted servers, server blades, storage, and networking infrastructure solutions.
