Customer Success Stories
Four out of the top 5 largest cloud and Web2.0 data centers use Mellanox networking equipment. Many of these customers use our advanced Ethernet solutions to build their data centers and consider our advanced network technology part of the 'secret sauce' that gives them efficiency, performance, and total cost of ownership advantages over their competition. As such they don’t provide details on the technology they use - but our dominant market share of Ethernet adapters greater than 10Gb/s speaks for itself on our value to these industry leaders.
Still many other cloud providers realize that InfiniBand provides them an unmatched network for building efficient, elastic, scalable clouds. InfiniBand enables the creation of world-leading cloud infrastructures around the globe. InfiniBand is the key ingredient for building the most scalable cloud, and to achieve the highest return on investment. We encourage you to try the cloud infrastructures listed below and see for yourself how your application can run faster!
University of Cambridge
The University of Cambridge (UoC) is one of the world’s foremost research universities and a leader in HPC, including its work to create some of the UK’s fastest supercomputers.
To address the challenges of HPC, large scale Data Analytics coupled with delivery of persistent Web-services, IaaS and cloud-based storage, UoC is adopting an agile OpenStack-based Cloud. Mellanox CloudX adds value to the mission as their technology currently allows us to bridge the divide between traditional HPC interconnects with Mellanox Infiniband solutions and High Performance Networking with Mellanox RDMA-capable Ethernet and drive convergence.
Monash University’s OpenStack cloud – R@CMon, is part of The National eResearch Collaboration Tools and Resources (NeCTAR) Project. Powered by Mellanox CloudX solution, this project aims to enhance research collaboration and outcome by providing full suite of digitally-enabled data, analytics and modeling resources to researchers throughout Australia. The R@CMon cloud utilizes Mellanox end-to-end 10, 40, and 56GbE Ethernet solutions to orchestrate HPC and cloud within their data-center.
The SKA project is an international effort to build the world's largest and most-sensitive radio telescope, with a square kilometer of collecting area. South Africa has already demonstrated its excellent science and engineering skills by designing and building the MeerKAT telescope – as a pathfinder to the SKA. With Mellanox 10/40GbE Ethernet solution, they can now build a high-capacity L3 multi-cast network that will enable astronomers to monitor the sky in unprecedented detail yet thousands of times faster than any system currently in existence.
When it comes to advanced scientific and computational research in Australia, the leading organization is the National Computational Infrastructure (NCI). NCI was tasked to form a national research cloud, as part of a government effort to connect eight geographically distinct Australian universities and research institutions into a single national cloud system. Mellanox’s CloudX offered the ideal solution to install a high-performance and scalable cloud environment at NCI. Mellanox provided NCI with convergence of its primary requirements: higher bandwidth, lower latency, lower costs, smaller physical footprint, fewer cables, easier management and scalability, support for more users, and future proofing.
